About three decades ago, very few companies were able to use mainframe computers, leave alone the internet as a resource for business and communication. Two decades ago, all businesses were buying computers and automating their systems. However, much of the selling and advertising was still done offline. About a decade ago, mobile phones took over from desktop computers in the level of usage. Currently, it is estimated that more than 2 billion people in the universe use mobile gadgets that are connected to the internet. In the US alone, 90 percent of the adult population owns an internet-powered cellphone. At least 50 percent of the adult population in every country of the world owns a cellphone.
